"In a small way, I want to emulate that philosophy in my own business practices."

Women in Control (WIC), a career club under Waggleforce, is kicking off several 10 week structured job clubs to help unemployed and underemployed in the Billerica area to get back to work. Waggleforce is a nationwide network of local career clubs created by Tory Johnson, the workplace coordinator for Good Morning America and CEO of Women for Hire as well as the editor of the 2009 New York Times best seller "Hired to Fired".
WIC is not a recruiting service or a guarantee for employment. We work together to bring job seekers out of isolation, hold each other accountable, focus on each others unique talents to find opportunities that make the most of each person's specific skills, and provide a confident, hopeful, and positive environment. There will be solid career advice in areas such as generating leads and strategic networking, a targeted job seach plan, motivation, suppport including resources from national partners and Waggleforce.com, and other online resources.

We want to warmly welcome back Colleen Sgroi who was formerly a member of the Billerica Chamber of Commerce and the Billerica Community Alliance.
A native of New England, Colleen was a commercial and graphic artist early in her career. She has been painting full time since 1988. Colleen owns and runs her own gallery as well as doing quite a bit of commission work. She also offers art classes for every age and is one of several people who teach at the gallery.
Colleen's work is quite well known to Billerica residents and includes paintings of historical homes and sites. Among her collectors she counts UMass-Lowell Chancellor Marty Meehan, State Representative Bill Greene and actor Matt LeBlanc formerly of the sitcom, 'Friends'. Colleen is also the designer of the Billerica Community Alliance logo.

Heather belongs to a number of charitable organizations. These include Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (www.nilmdts.org), an organization that does bereavement photography service to help families through the loss of a child. She also works with the MSPCA volunteering for Nevins Animal Shelter in Methuen offering photography services to help find placement for the numerous animals up for adoption. She also volunteers for Operation Love Reunited (www.oplove.org) which donates photography sessions to families with a deployed (or soon to be) family member.

The Merrimack Special Education Collaborative (MSEC), is one of the largest and most diverse Collaboratives in Massachusetts.
For over 30 years, MSEC has provided educational and vocational services to students from preschool through adulthood requiring specialized programming. During this time, MSEC’s vocational training and internships for students have utilized our partnerships with hundreds of area businesses. MSEC’s Vocational Services department provides an environment where people are given the opportunity and support to reach their academic and vocational potential.
MSEC provides training and job placement to over 250 students and adults annually and serves over 90 school districts throughout Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. MSEC assists individuals in obtaining job skills, social skills, independent living skills and community involvement in order to become an integral part of society.
