MA Office of Business Development

Promotes job growth, retaining existing jobs, and stimulating private investment within MA.  Its mission is to facilitate governmental resources and incentive programs that will help business grow faster and stronger.

The MOCD helps companies obtain training grants.  It works with MassEcon, cities and towns to find sites for companies to locate, relocate or expand within MA.

It acts as a liason between companies with exportable products and the Small Business Development Center Export Department. The MOBD and the MA Office of International Trade and Investment assist foreign companies that want to invest in MA.

The NE Regional Office provides advice to businesses located in the North Shore and Merrimack Valley areas of the state.  Since its inception in 1991, the office has worked with over 10k entrepreneurs to raise over $46million in loans.  In addition to office hours in Salem, staff also hold office hours at chambers of commerce, local colleges and economic development groups throughout Northeastern MA.

Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA)

As part of the Department of Commerce, it is the only federal agency dedicated to advancing the establishment and growth of minority owned firms. Through a network of minority business centers and strategic partners, it works with minority entrepreneurs who wish to grow their businesses in size. scale, and capacity.

This fund is intended for any business with a primary purpose:

  • Collectiving or separating recyclable materials for resale
  • Reuse, processing, composing or converting of recyclable materials into marketable products
  • Manufacturing products that use recycled materials
  • Wholesaling or retailing of recycled feedstocks or products containing a significant percentage of recylced materials

The qualifying companies must operate in Massachusetts and be unable to obtain financing from conventional sources.
