Buy It In Billerica...

Buy It In Billerica Is Here!

Our Buy It In Billerica campaign is here. Look around town for our posters (shown at left) and those businesses who are participating.

We are very pleased to have 28 local businesses supporting this effort and hope it will encourage Billerica residents to shop locally and support these companies.

To see the full list of businesses and the specials or discounts they are offering under Buy It In Billerica, click here.

What Is Buy It In Billerica?

Buy It in Billerica is the Alliance's new promotional campaign to recognize local businesses and ask for support of those businesses by the community.

Local businesses who participate will be part of a Buy It In Billerica poster featuring photos of their businesses which will be displayed at participating businesses as well as throughout Billerica.

They will also be connected to their customers via links from the Alliance website as well as billerica.org. These links will allow the businesses the ability to offer unique promotions and discounts via their websites.

Businesses do not need to be members of the Billerica Community Alliance in order to participate in the program. The Alliance will also be offering discounts on memberships for any business that wishes to both participate in the program as well as becoming a memer of the organization.

For more information on the program, costs, benefits or other questions, please see the attached flyer: Buy It In Billerica Information

Group says 'Buy It In Billerica' and Help the Town Flourish

BILLERICA -- Want to help your town? The Billerica Community Alliance says there's an easy way to do it: Patronize local businesses.

The group is launching a campaign this month urging Billerica residents to shop at local stores, use local services, and hire local contractors.

Dubbed "Buy It In Billerica," the campaign's aim is to keep residents' money within the borders of this community of 42,000.

"In general, it's been a terrible year for business and the economy," said Pat Zapert, executive director of the Billerica Community Alliance. "We're just trying anything to tell people that the businesses are still here. They need your support because they're a key part of the community."

When local businesses flourish it results in a strong local economy with plenty of jobs and a strong tax base to support education and fire and police departments, says Zapert.

"We want people to buy local, rather than going to the biggest box store," she said. "That's how you make a community strong."

As part of the campaign, businesses can purchase space on billerica.org that link to their Web sites. People who find out about the business through "Buy It In Billerica" will be able to take advantage of special deals on products and services.

The alliance will also produce a "Buy It In Billerica" poster with participating businesses' logos that will be displayed throughout town. Businesses that are members of the allianceQuantcast must pay $100 to join the program, while non-members will be charged $150.

Jim Marshall, owner of Marshall's Auto Sales on Pond Street, said he is excited about the prospects of the campaign.

"Even though people want the best value and may think they can save on sales tax if they drive to New Hampshire, we're hoping this will convince them to support the town and its vendors," said Marshall. "That's what's going to keep Billerica flourishing."

Organizers hope "Buy It In Billerica" will be the first of a series of efforts to increase traffic to Billerica businesses.

"We may use this as a springboard to do a restaurant week in Billerica, like they do in Lowell," said Zapert. "We're hoping this will grow."

The Billerica Community Alliance was formed by the merger of the Billerica Chamber of Commerce and the Billerica Plan. It aims to enhance the quality of life in Billerica and assist local businesses with marketing and economic development.

Those interested in working with the Alliance on the campaign can contact the office for further details at (978) 667-4174 or via e-mail at info@billerica-alliance.org.
